Food is necessary for us to survive, it's a fact of life. But it's also expensive. Sadly, some families have to choose between buying food or some other necessity for the week. God has blessed us with an opportunity to help our local food shelter, the House of Concern, through our Canning Hunger ministry. A team of people from our church will go door to door of a neighborhood and take the donations they collect to the House of Concern.
how it works
The month before we start collecting donations we ask the residents of the neighborhood if they're interested in donating. We give a list of foods the House of Concern needs, and a calendar of dates to those who agree to donate. On the third Saturdays of every month between 10am-12pm a team will knock on your door and ask for donations. But we don't want to only collect donations, we want to build relationships with you. It's not uncommon for our food donators to receive an invitation to a church function, or a "thank you" note for faithfully donating to the House of Concern. After a few months of knocking on the doors of one neighborhood, we move to a new area.
