Giving
We believe that every Christian, as a steward of that portion of God’s wealth entrusted to him, is obligated to support his local church financially. We believe that God has established the tithe as a basis for giving. In addition, every Christian should also give other offerings sacrificially and cheerfully to the support of the church, the relief of those in need, and the spread of the Gospel. We believe that a Christian relinquishes all rights to direct the use of the tithe or offering once the gift has been made. (Gen 14:20And blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand." And he gave him a tithe of all.
; Prov 3:9-10 [9] Honor the LORD with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase;
[10] So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.
; Malachi 3:10Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this," Says the LORD of hosts, "If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you [such] blessing That [there will] not [be room] enough [to receive it.]
; Matt 23:23"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier [matters] of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone.
; Acts 4:34-37 [34] Nor was there anyone among them who lacked; for all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold,
[35] and laid [them] at the apostles' feet; and they distributed to each as anyone had need.
[36] And Joses, who was also named Barnabas by the apostles (which is translated Son of Encouragement), a Levite of the country of Cyprus,
[37] having land, sold [it,] and brought the money and laid [it] at the apostles' feet.
; 1 Cor 16:2On the first [day] of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come.
; 2 Cor 9:6-7 [6] But this [I say: ] He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
[7] [So let] each one [give] as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.
; Gal 6:6Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches.
; Eph 4:28Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with [his] hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.
; 1 Tim 5:17-18 [17] Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine.
[18] For the Scripture says, "You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain," and, "The laborer [is] worthy of his wages."
; 1 John 3:17)
