Revelation Chapter 7 - 3/10/21
Chapter 7 is and _______ between the 6th and 7th seal. It is a ______ in the outpouring of judgment. Even though God is all-wise and perfect, He still ___________ before judging things! The Chapter is divided into two Sections: Section 1 Vs 1 The four angels: Holding back the wind. God uses angels to hold back His wrath and later in Chapter 8 (8:2) we’ll see that He uses Angels to deliver His wrath. Holding Back = Kratew, which means to grasp, seize, __________. The root word is kratos which stresses the idea of ____________. “Four Winds” The whole ________ is going to be affected. The four winds refer to the impending judgments of the tribulation in general. Other places God uses wind as a symbol of divine judgement: Jeremiah 49:36, Jeremiah 51:1, 2 Samuel 22:11 Vs 2 – It was _________ to them to harm the earth. “Granted” speaks of God’s sovereignty. The 5th angel carried the authority to stop the four angels (rank?) Vs 3 – The servants of God are ___________ on their foreheads (vs mark of the beast) This is NOT referring to the ___________! (We’re already in Heaven. The church is referred also to by Christ as friends (John 15:15). Paul refers to himself as a servant, this is a response to the unconditional love of Christ at the cross (1 Corinthians 9:19 and Romans 12:1) He also refers to us as His Bride (Revelation 19:7), the _____ (Ephesians 5:22-23), Building (1 Corinthians 3:9), Saints (1 Corinthians 1:2), The ________ (1 Peter 5:2) and a ___________ (1 Corinthians 3:9) Don’t harm the earth until I seal the servants – again as Genesis 19:22…God must secure His own before pouring out his judgement (Similar in principle to Lot, Noah, the church etc. …) Vs 4-8 The 144,000 (Revelation 14:1-5) Notice the names of the Tribes: Judah, Reuben, Gad, Asher, Naphtali, _____________, Simeon, Levi, Issachar, Zebulun, __________, Benjamin. (Ephraim and Manasseh – Usually combined under one name – Joseph) Manasseh and Joseph replace Dan and Ephraim in this list...why? Deuteronomy 29:18-21 the problem – one word - _____________ See 1 Kings 12:25-30 Ephraim – Judges 17:1-18:31 Micah stole silver from his mother, replaced it and she bought idols with the cash Dan and Ephraim will be in the _____________ (Ezekiel 48:1-7, 23-29) but they’re going to go through the Tribulation period, ________________! Section 2 Verses 9-17 The redeemed of the Tribulation vs 9 The Great multitude of all nations, tribes, peoples and tongues clothed in white robes with palm branches in their hands. Not the ____________ again (the church was taken out beforehand and has _____________) these have palms. Not the elders: Elders have ____________ and golden vials in their hands, not palms These are Gentiles from every nation that were _____________ in the Tribulation The 144,000 are preaching and many are being saved Vs 9 & 15 They are before the throne of God serving Him day and night. Serve is present tense – Heaven is not only rest from earthly toil and tribulation, but also worship and privileged service! Vs 16 No hunger or thirst Vs 17 They are being shepherded by Christ!
